Why do you need search engine optimization?

Search is a widely used way to locate any information or business on the web. 91% of the American users use search very frequently. 80% of users click on the organic/natural search results (not the paid ones which appear as sponsored results on search engines).
This means, if your site is ranking well for your business terms then you will get lot of people coming to your site from search engines. The good thing is the people who are coming to your site this way are already looking for specific information/product in your industry and thus are more likely to buy from you, a better term would be likely to convert well.
